The Shop is done for now!

I spent last week making the rest of the doors for the cabinets. I also finally made the last drawer that goes next the the chop saw. I built some shelves out of some old 2x10 planks I was going to chop up for firewood. The shelves are now against the concrete wall for extra storage. I bought an asortment of hooks to hand hoses, ladders, and extension cords up on the walls. I cleaned out my wood pile and cut up the scrap for firewood. I cleaned the entire shop area.

The only thing I have left to do is go through the cabinets and organize whats in them. I need to dump everything out of boxes and find it a place or get rid of it.

I have air in my shop!

I ran PVC with several air hose connection in the shop. Two connections against the back wall one at the tall workbench and one over the work table. I got the air filter and regulator hooked up and after 3 trips to home depot buying the correct fittings I finally got it all hooked up.

Spring yard projects

I built a small privicy fence and trellis for Chris. She saw the idea in a garden book and asked me to build it. It's made out of cedar posts and latice.

I also cleaned out our fountians and got them running again this year. Chris did a ton of weeding and triming.

Now I need to organize the back half of the shop. I am going to build some wood storage and finish my cabinet doors. I also need to put some stuff away.

Insulation and Drywall

Now that the wiring is done I insulated the rest of the walls and hung drywall. I have a bit of drywall to do around the new wall by the stairs and a few pieces by the garage doors but I am basically done. I am going to mud over the seams and screws and then the shop will be done.

Downstairs Shop progress

On Sunday and Monday Quin helped me finish the electrical wiring in the downstairs area. We added the additional outlets and wired separate circuts for lights in the front and back of the shop. Chris and I cleaned up the shop a bit and moved stuff around. The fridge is now closer to the side door for easy access. There is a three-way switch to turn the lights on in the front half which I still can't believe I got right on the first try. We added 4 floresent lights in the front plus one over the sink.

Halloween stuff is finally put away

Well, it is April and I finally got it all put away where it is supposed to go. I took the time to neatly pack it all in and even hung the bucky's up on hook in the ceiling. It took up a lot less space than I thought it would.

There is still quite a bit of room upstairs.

A little fun

After finally finishing the painting of the doors, trim, and railing upstairs I thought I would take a few minutes and play with one of our RC Trucks on the brand new floor before we filled it up with halloween stuff. Hal our cat was outside following me around and he was upstairs when I grabbed the RC Controler. So I chased him around the room and "herded" him in and out of the storage spaces. The truck does great spinouts on the vinyl floor. It was funny watching Hal run from the truck. I don't think he likes it any more.

Oh, well back to work.

Stairway is done for now

I drywalled the wall I built. I installed the railing. I purchased some LED nightlight outlets that I placed in the wall and at the bottom of the stairs. Quin helped wire these in and we did a bit of creative wiring to tie into the existing wiring. I bought the nightlights at Globe Lighting because Home Depot doesn't carry anything like that. http://www.budgetlighting.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=3430661.30683*k82lF6&keywords=RNLS-4&xm=on&ppinc=search2

Getting closer

I made some doors for the storage area openings. I also cut out the plywood for the openings in the dormers but I haven't installed them yet. I am using magnetic latches to hold the doors in place.

Vinyl floor is finished

It took all weekend but we got all 700 sq ft of vinyl tiles glued down. I started installing the rubber cove molding. Since we painted the walls grey we went with grey tiles. We are using black cove molding and are going to paint the doors and trim black too. Kind of a halloween theme?

More construction

I am installing a wall along the stairway in the shop so I can install a handrail for the stairs. I also decided to build a short wall under the stairs to get rid of the bounce the stairs always had. I can use this wall to install more cabinets for the shop. We are also going to wire some lights for the stairway.

We have a Bathroom in the Shop!!!

I got the shutoff valves installed and then installed the sink and toilet on Friday. We hung the door and got the electical working on Saturday. She's all ready for use now.
